Start Here: Your Words and Your Coin

GOOD TO KNOW — Why this guide exists. The old TXC Wallet apps are being phased out. The Android version is already gone from the Play Store. The new wallets are web-based and all of them run on one thing: your seed phrase. This guide gets you a seed phrase the safe way and shows you how to handle your cold storage coin.

Part 1: What a seed phrase is (60-second version)

A seed phrase is a list of 12 (sometimes 24) ordinary English words in a specific order. Those words are your money. Anyone who has the words has the coins. Lose the words and nobody — not Bobby, not support, not anyone — can get them back.

One set of words unlocks every Honest Money wallet: the TEXITcoin web wallet, Mobile Honest Money, Beekeeper, and CryptoPop. Same words, same addresses, different app on top. You do not need a different seed phrase for each one.

12 vs 24 words	12 words is plenty. Bobby's take: if a computer exists that can guess 12 words, the extra 12 will not save you. Use whatever your coin or wallet gives you.
Seed phrase vs private key	Older coins were etched with a private key. New coins are etched with a 12-word seed phrase. Seed phrases are more powerful because they open many chains at once. If you have an old private key it still works, but see the import order rule in the Mobile Honest Money guide.
Password vs seed phrase	The wallet password only locks the app on your device. Forget it and you simply re-import your words and pick a new one. The words are what matter.

Part 2: Three ways to get your words

Option A: Your cold storage coin (recommended)

Every new coin (Beekeeper, TEXITcoin, Iskander, CryptoPop) has a unique, maximum-randomness 12-word seed phrase laser-etched under the sticker. The outside artwork differs; the inside is identical. Made and key-generated by Bobby personally, computers wiped afterward. Part 3 below covers how to open it.

Option B: Let the wallet make them

Both wallet.texitcoin.org and mobile.honest.money will generate words for you when you create a new wallet. This is a perfectly good way to start. Just write the words down before you tap Create.

Option C: words.honest.money (the Honeycomb Seed Phrase Builder)

A tool that generates a 12- or 24-word phrase, shows you a strength meter, and gives you a QR code of the phrase. Use the Maximize entropy button and take what it gives you.

HEADS UP — Do not hand-pick your words. The builder lets you choose your own words to make a phrase memorable. Bobby built it and Bobby says don't. The more memorable a phrase is, the easier it is for someone else to guess. If you use this tool, use the randomized output and print it.

Part 3: Opening your cold storage coin

STOP. READ THIS. — New rule: take the sticker off. In the past we said leave the sticker on and link the coin as watch-only. That has changed. For the coin you plan to use, you remove the tamper-evident sticker to reveal the seed phrase QR code. For the coin you plan to store, leave it sealed.

1. Check the 6-character asset ID. The sticker on the back has a 6-character ID. So does the coin itself. They should match. That is your proof the coin was assembled correctly. Example format: CL9W7P. The second through seventh characters are the asset ID.
2. Get a fingernail under the sticker edge. There is only about half a millimeter of gap between the sticker and the coin rim. It is made by Kurz, a German banknote-security company, and it is tough on purpose.
3. Peel the whole sticker off. If you see a white square, you did not go far enough. Keep peeling.
4. Dissolve the glue with WD-40. A dab on a cloth clears the residue in seconds. Nail polish remover also works. Rub gently; the QR must be fully clean or it will not scan.
5. Look at the QR code. That laser-etched QR is your 12-word seed phrase. Nothing else is on it.

STOP. READ THIS. — Never use anything sharp or abrasive. No knives. No Brillo pads. No axes (yes, someone tried). You will destroy the laser etching and there is no recovery. WD-40 and patience.

Reading the words off the coin

1. Open your phone camera (or any QR reader) and point it at the cleaned QR code. Good light helps. A phone works far better than a laptop webcam.
2. Your phone will show the 12 words. Write them down on paper, in order, and keep the coin as a second copy.
3. When a wallet asks you to import, you can either scan this same QR from inside the wallet or type the words. Both work.

Part 4: Keeping a sealed coin as cold storage (watch-only)

Your sealed coin has a public address printed on the sticker's QR. You can watch that balance without ever exposing the seed phrase:

• In mobile.honest.money, go to Add watch-only address and type the coin's 6-character coin ID. The wallet looks it up and fills in the address and a name. Pick the network (TXC, BTC, etc.) and save.
• Or use the Cold Storage Coins app: Scan a coin or enter the ID manually to see the balance.
• Send coins to that address anytime. To spend them you will open the coin later using Part 3.

TIP — Bobby's own setup. Bobby moved his largest holdings back onto a sealed cold storage coin after the close call in May 2026. Hot wallet for daily use, sealed coin for the retirement money. Copy that pattern.

Part 5: Backing up your words

• Paper, pen, safe. Write the 12 words in order. Two copies in two places is better than one.
• Never store them as a screenshot, in email, in notes, in a cloud drive, or in a chat. That is how wallets get drained.
• Optional split: Bobby's idea for families. Give four words to you, four to a spouse, four to a trusted family member. Recovery requires everyone. Only do this if each person will actually keep their piece safe.
• Test it. Import the words into a wallet once and confirm you see the address you expect before you send anything meaningful.

The golden rules

1. Your words are your money. Whoever has them has the coins.
2. No support person will ever ask for your words. Anyone who does is a thief.
3. Wallet password lost? Re-import your words. Words lost? Game over.
4. One sealed coin in the safe. One opened coin linked to your everyday wallet.
5. Send a small test transaction first, every time you set up something new.

Before you message support	Rescan your wallet first. Most "my coins are gone" reports are the wallet looking at a different address path. Rescanning fixes it.
