What Is Seeds? (seeds.honest.money)
honest.money's exchange where your coins never leave your own wallet.
Seeds (https://seeds.honest.money) is the honest.money ecosystem's crypto exchange. It works like a normal exchange, with an order book and buy and sell orders, but with one big difference: you never deposit your coins with the exchange.
Important (October 2026): Seeds is brand new. Its own account page currently says trade settlement from linked trading pockets is not connected yet, so do not move funds into a trading pocket for a Seeds trade yet. This article will be updated when that changes.
How is Seeds different?
On a normal exchange, step one is sending your coins to the exchange. From then on, the exchange holds them. Every big exchange collapse (hacks, frozen accounts, bankruptcies) happened to coins sitting on an exchange.
Seeds never takes your coins:
- Your coins stay in your own wallet, from your own 12 words. Seeds encrypts your words in your browser and never sees them.
- Trades go straight from one person's wallet to the other, on the blockchain. Every trade has a real transaction you can look up.
- Nobody holds a big pile of everyone's money, so there's nothing for a hacker to empty.
How does trading work?
- Your wallet has two parts: your main wallet, which Seeds can never touch, and a separate trading pocket.
- You move only what you want to trade into the trading pocket.
- You give Seeds permission for one coin, up to an amount you choose, until a time you choose.
- When that time runs out, or when you revoke it, Seeds' access is deleted. You can move the coins back to your main wallet at any time.
What can you trade?
Markets are priced in TSD (Texas Stable Dollar), the ecosystem's stable dollar: TXC, ISK, ZCU, LTC, BTC and ETH against TSD, plus TSD against USDC. You can get TSD from https://tsd.honest.money.
Person-to-person (P2P)
Seeds also has a P2P marketplace (https://seeds.honest.money/p2p) where you can buy or sell crypto with real people, paying with Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, a bank transfer or cash. The seller's coins are checked on the blockchain and held for your trade before you pay, and disputes are reviewed by experienced traders, with Seeds making the final call.
Good to know
- Lose your password and your 12 words, and nobody can get your coins back, not even Seeds. Write your words down and keep them offline.
- Blockchain transactions can't be undone. Start small and only move what you are trading.
- Network fees are yours.
- Seeds publishes how many trading keys it holds, live, at https://seeds.honest.money/custody.
- The Seeds Coin (a physical cold storage coin for your Seeds wallet) is listed as "coming soon".
- Seeds is software, not a bank or an investment adviser. Nothing here is financial advice.
